Montana Horse Pack Trips
You don't have to be a hunter or angler to fully appreciate an adventure in Montana. We offer hiking, sightseeing, and photography trips into our remote backcountry area, catering to a diverse range of clients. If you prefer, you can simply bring along a few good books, relax, and immerse yourself in the beauty of this stunning landscape. Over the years, we've welcomed artists who joined us to capture their impressions of this extraordinary place.
Your adventure commences on the morning of your departure for our backcountry camp, Independence.
Upon reaching the trailhead, our guides and wranglers will pack your gear and acquaint you with your horse. After saddling up, you'll embark on a one-hour ride up an old sheep trail to our backcountry camp, Independence. That afternoon, you'll have the opportunity to explore, fish, hike, and unwind by the campfire. The next morning, after a leisurely breakfast, you'll mount your horse for a scenic four-and-a-half-hour ride through magnificent terrain to our base camp, Hellroaring.
At camp, you can relax and rejuvenate in your wall tent, enjoying its comfort and coziness despite being miles away from any permanent human settlement. In the evening, savor a delectably prepared meal accompanied by your choice of beverages, gather around the roaring campfire, and relish the camaraderie as you anticipate the adventures ahead.
A restful night's sleep followed by an early rise and a hearty breakfast prepared by our skilled cook will prepare you for your chosen pursuit: hunting, fishing, or simply reveling in what is rightly referred to as "God's Country."
Whatever activity you choose, our guides will accompany you every step of the way, offering their expertise and hospitality. Whether you're after the majestic elk or the elusive cutthroat trout, the day's end will leave you with the satisfaction of time well spent chasing your outdoor dreams.
